MIT researchers develop 10-minute test





The diagnostic method is carried out by using a simple paper strip similar to a pregnancy test.

Photos: Perfectly healthy baby delivered still inside his amniotic sac


His hands and feet were clearly visible - but baby Silas Philips was in no rush to enter the world. Born still inside his amniotic sac, he has since been described as a 'medical miracle' by doctors.


Silas was delivered three months prematurely at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California. And doctors performing the Caesarean section on his mother, Chelsea, were astonished to see his amniotic sac was still intact. Pictures show Silas curled up inside with the placenta and umbilical cord, his tiny hands and a leg clearly visible.

Jonathan embarked on the trip shortly after laying a wreath at the National Arcade, Abuja in commemoration of the   Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

There had been clamour for him to visit the   zone since April 14 when over 200 schoolgirls were abducted in Chibok by the sect.

miracle: The boy that died in Modeblu memorial secondary School Onitsha is now back to life.

The senior prefect of Modeblu memorial secondary School Onitsha Ebuka Okanume who was killed  on monday 3rd of November 2014 by an Ex student of same school while on duty as a School prefect.

I just recived a wounderful news that the boy is now back to life after spending over 3days in the mortuary.

I got this info from a very reliable source. i will go there my self tomorrow to get you people more update on this.

IBB Back In Minna After Medicals

The former military leader, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, has returned from medical treatment at a German Hospital.

Babangida, who was away for two months, was received by the Minister of Defence, Aliyu Gusau and close family members at the Minna Airport.

On arrival, he thanked all well wishers that stood by him during his stay at the hospital, adding that “I miss everyone around me’’.

“When I rest, then we shall talk more with my friends about current issues as we usually do. But for now, let me rest,” he told reporters.

NAN reports that the retired military general was welcomed home at his hilltop residence by his grandchildren.

Other personalities that welcomed Babangida home included AVM Hamza Abdullahi, Gen. Halilu Hakilu, Col. Habibu Shuaibu and former Chairman of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN), Umaru Ndanusa.

This woman claimed she have been pregnant for 5-year now delivers of a baby boy (PICTURED)



After being barren for 27 years and carrying a pregnancy for five years, an Abuja based woman, Adenike Kolawole has finally delivered a baby boy.
The miracle boy was delivered on Sunday at Evangelical Church of Cherubim and Seraphim located at Pipeline Road, Mafon area, Ejigbo, Lagos during church service.

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen to donate $100m to tackle Ebola


Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, 61, who is worth about $17billion, announced today October 23rd that he will donate $100 million to the fight against Ebola, which has killed thousands of people all around the world. This donation makes him the largest individual donor in the Ebola crisis so far.
"Everybody feels called sometimes to really pursue a certain thing that resonates with them, and this has resonated with me. We’re up against an extremely tough opponent here. The exponential nature of the growth of this disease is really a challenge - we’ve already seen in the U.S. where one case quickly became two.” Allen told NY Times

Ebola Drug Trials To Start In West Africa - WHO



Head of Health Information of WHO, Marie Kieny, said Ebola drug trials and collection of survivors’ blood for treating patients would get underway in west africa within weeks.

Kieny said in Geneva on Wednesday that WHO and partner organisations were currently selecting treatment centres in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to conduct trials of experimental Ebola drugs.

Photos: British nurse who survived Ebola returns to Sierra Leone


British nurse, Will Pooley who contracted Ebola while working in Sierra Leone, returned to the West African country today October 19th after being treated and cured of the deadly disease in the UK.

Williams said he couldn't stand "idly by" and watch more people die of the disease when he could help and feels his decision to go back to Sierra Leone is the right one...

"I chose to go before and it was the right thing to do then and it’s still the right thing to do now.” he saidWilliams was airlifted from Sierra Leone to England on August 25th after contracting the disease. He will be resuming work tomorrow Monday October 20th at an Ebola Isolation Unit at the Connaught Hospital in Free Town, the Sierra Leone capital

No Governor can take credit for wining Ebola War – Jonathan


President Goodluck Jonathan

Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday said neither he nor any governor in the country can claim the credit for winning the war against Ebola.
Rivers and Lagos are the two Nigerian states hit by the Ebola outbreak.
The federal government said the two states are now free of the deadly virus.

Dallas Health worker contracts Ebola. Ebola in the US.

Looks like Ebola has relocated to the US. A health worker who helped in the treatment of Liberian man, Thomas Eric Duncan, who died on Wednesday October 8th, at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas, has contracted the disease.

Dallas state health officials released a statement today revealing the first case of Ebola transmission in the US

"We knew a second case could be a reality, and we’ve been preparing for this possibility. We are broadening our team in Dallas and working with extreme diligence to prevent further spread.” Texas health commissioner. Dr. David Lakey saidThe worker has been isolated since Friday night October 10th but his/her identity has not disclosed.

First Consultant Hospital indicts Liberian Ambassador


First Consultants Medical Centre, the Lagos hospital where the man who brought Ebola to Nigeria, late Liberian Patrick Sawyer died, has indicted the Liberian Ambassador to Nigeria (pictured right) for his involvement in the case, saying he put the hospital under pressure to release Sawyer against the wish of its management, Vanguard reports.
