Boy thrown into river by aunt over witchcraft(Photo)


A 10-year-old boy, Usen Okon, who was thrown into the Imo River in the Ikot Abasi area of Akwa Ibom State, over witchcraft accusation, has survived the ordeal.

The Senior Project Manager of the Humanist Association for Peace and Social Tolerance Advancement, Mr.Ayobami Ojedokun, told Punch in Uyo on Tuesday that Okon was under the care of his paternal aunt, identified simply as Ekaeyen, at Etebi community in the Esit Eket Local Government Area of the state as his parents had died.

He said a few days ago, Okon was aroused from sleep by Ekaeyen who took him to her husband and asked him to confess to being a wizard.

He added that when Okon denied the witchcraft accusation, his aunt threatened to throw him into a river.

Ojedokun said Ekaeyen, true to her words, on November 16, took Okon to the Imo River and threw him into the water with the hope that he would drown.
“She actually threw Okon into Imo River thinking that the boy would drown. The boy came out of the water alive and went to their home, only to be told that her auntie had relocated,” Ojedokun said.The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Mr. Iboro Victor, said he was not aware of the incident.

“The incident is not to my knowledge right now,” he said.

FG bans the use of phones in Nigerian prisons

Following the recent jailbreak attempt in some Nigerian prisons in recent times, the Federal govt today banned the use of phones by both prisoners and prison officials within the prison premises.

The ban was pronounced by Minister of Interior Affairs, Abba Moro while speaking with some senior prison officials in Abuja.

"I have visited some prisons in other countries as the Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Nobody, no matter how highly placed you are, you don’t come to prison with your phones, not even the minister of Interior as the supervising minister over the prisons. So, why are you an exception?. Henceforth, no matter who you are including myself, nobody goes into prison with telephones."

And so, as you are going from here, create a meeting platform where all the officers that work in the prisons as they walk into prisons, they submit their phones and collect them when they close.” The Minister also directed that all the phones on all inmates should be confiscated withing 30 days.

Jihadists kill 28 Christians on Kenyan bus after asking passengers to prove they're muslims


28 Christians were killed yesterday morning Nov. 22nd after Islamic Shebab extremists ambushed a bus in Kenya as it headed for Nairobi from Mandera, a town close to Somalia.

According to reports, the heavily armed extremists separated the Muslims from the Christians by asking them to recite verses from the Qu'ran. Then they ordered the Muslims to get off the bus and then shot the Christians point blank in the head before escaping back to Somalia.

A Spokesman for Shebab later said the 28 travelers were killed in retaliation for a raid on mosques in Mombasa, Kenya last week.

Man commits suicide in church




A 24-year-old man, Lanre Falodu, who was taken for deliverance at a Pentecostal Church, has committed suicide in the church premises.
According to a police source, the deceased brother, Tunde, had taken him to the church located at Imola area of Owo to seek spiritual solution to his problem.
Falodu, who had reportedly been in church for some time, reportedly escaped at about 5:30 am on the ill-fated day.

Nigerian troops recapture 3 communities in Adamawa (See Photos)



The Nigerian military combating terrorism in the North east have reportedly taken full control of three communities in Adamawa State.

According to the website of the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, the troops have fully recaptured Gombi, Pelia and Hong communities in the state from insurgents.

The communities are among the areas taken over by insurgents in the past few weeks leaving many citizens displace and others killed.

The ongoing military operations in the North-Eastern Nigeria is to clear all areas affected by terrorists operations. Mopping up exercise is ongoing while the troops are moving to other communities in what a top security officer described as ‘Operation No Mercy’.

Worshippers at Jesusalem Synagogue killed 2 Palestinian Cousins screaming 'God is great'(Photos)


A British-born father and three American citizens were killed by Palestinian terrorists armed with axes and guns in a Jerusalem synagogue.

They were slaughtered in a dawn attack by two cousins who screamed 'god is great' as they massacred at random.The two terrorists were shot dead after the attack by police.
The assailants, named as cousins Uday and Rassan Abu Jamal, both in their 20s, burst in to the synagogue just before 7am screaming 'God is great' as up to 30 worshippers gathered for prayers.

FG approves extention of state of emergency rule in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno states

                            
The Federal Government has approved the extension of state of emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States, the three states that have recorded the highest cases of Boko Haram attacks.

The decision to extend the emergency rule for the third time was taken at the National Defence Council meeting which was presided over by President Jonathan earlier today at the presidential villa Abuja.
Briefing state house correspondents after the meeting, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Muhammed Adoke said the decision of the council will be communicated to the National Assembly for approval.

The first state of Emergency rule was imposed on the states in May 2013 and has been extended twice since then.

Female 'Corper' Dismissed from camp For Fighting




The female Corps member was reportedly sent home from the Delta State NYSC camp in Isele-Uku, for slapping a male Corps member.

A female National Youth Service Corps member has been sent home from the orientation camp in Delta State for slapping a fellow Corps member.
Details of this incident, like her name, are unknown as it was reported with just 143 characters on Twitter. The handle @NaijaCorpers, a Twitter account that focuses on the activities of the NYSC revealed this with just a photo.

“A female corper was de-camped yesterday in Isele-Uku #DeltaCamp for slapping a male corper. #Discipline ,” the account wrote.

In the photo, a girl can be seen with her bags on her head being taking out by a soldier with other Corps members looking on.

Niger Bombing Update. 10 Dead, 4 Injured In Blast


The explosion which occurred in Kontagora, Niger State yesterday, November 12, has reportedly claimed 10 lives and left 4 people injured.
A female suicide bomber detonated an explosive at the entrance to the Federal College of Education library before she could reach her target.
Eyewitnesses have said that at least 10 people lost their lives in the attack but the police spokesperson for the state, Ibrahim Gambari claims that only the bomber died.

ISIS announces new currency




(CNN) -- ISIS is planning to mint its own currency in gold, silver and copper, the group said Thursday.
Its aim is to stay away from the "tyrant's financial system," ISIS said in a statement. It said it would issue another statement to explain the new currency's exchange rate, and where it can be found.
The currency will include seven coins: two gold, three silver and two copper.
The move is "purely dedicated to God" and will remove Muslims from the "global economic system that is based on satanic usury," ISIS said.

BOKO AGAIN! Female Suicide Bomber Strikes Federal College Of Education, Niger State



A lone female suicide bomber has
detonated a bomb at the Federal College of Education Kontagora in Niger State. Apart from the suicide bomber, no one died in the attack. Security sources told Saharareporters that several students sustained injuries from the attack.

ISIS 'Leader Killed After Air Strikes Take Out 50 Terrorists'

Unconfirmed reports suggests that top Islamic State commanders may have been killed when coalition forces targeted the terror group with air strikes.

There is yet to be a confirmation from US officials whether ISIS leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was present at a meeting in a house in al-Qaim, a town on the Iraq-Syria border.

Gombe Governor Shuts Down All Schools Over Boko Haram


Gombe State Government has ordered the closure of all public and private schools in the State. This is coming a day after suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked two towns.

A secondary school principal who confirmed the development told NAN she received a circular Tuesday evening that all schools should be shut for security reasons.

Some parents who also spoke to NAN about the development said they commend the state government for the action, because it was necessary to safeguard students.

Many feared dead as Bomb blast hits Bauchi

A bomb blast has been reported at a First Bank in Azare, Bauchi State. The bomb went off as people, mainly civil servants, queued at the bank's ATM to withdraw money. Many are feared dead.

Man caught eating dead woman's face in hotel room in the UK


A 34 year-old man, Matthew Williams nicknamed Fifi, was allegedly found eating a woman’s eyeball and face in a hotel room.

The horrified security staff at The Sirhowy Arms Hotel in Argoed, South Wales, burst into the room after the murder suspect refused to let them in.


The hotel staff called police who hit Matthew Williams with a high voltage taser which knocked him to the floor. He was formally arrested but died moments later due to high voltage.




His victim, a 22-year-old woman who he'd just met, was also confirmed dead from her injuries.
Williams had just been released from jail two weeks earlier, where he'd served half of a five-year prison sentence for a violent attack on his partner.

According to Jill Edwards, who lives near the hotel, he said: ‘This animal was eating this girl to death. Security said they told him no girls in his room and he didn’t answer, when they opened his door he was eating her face.’



A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: ‘We were called at 1.23am after a reported that a man was attacking a woman in the Sirhowy Arms Hotel. On arrival both the male and female were still at the location. A taser was discharged and a man was arrested. The woman was located with injuries and has since been pronounced deceased. While under arrest, the man became unresponsive. Officers and paramedics administered first aid but he has since been pronounced deceased. A murder investigation is underway into the death of the woman.’

Man pays Okada rider N5,000 to throw his own baby inside Lagos Lagoon

A man is standing trial for ordering his 3-week old baby to be assassinated.

Prosecution witness, Inspector Simeon Kunamon, yesterday told a Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere how a motorcycle rider, popularly known asOkada, Ilaya Peters, was paid N5,000 to murder the baby.

According to Vanguard, he testified that the baby’s father, Moses Joseph, who is attached to Nigerian Navy, Amuwo Odofin, paid the defendant and others at large the said sum to forcibly take the baby from her mother, Gloria Yusuf, at about 1a.m. at her residence at 8, Odofin Close, Ajegunle.

The baby was stolen and thrown into the lagoon in a peak milk cartoon, adding that the deceased baby’s body could not be recovered.
